Why get up at 5am or 6am?

Many of the world’s CEOs, Billionaires and Successful Sports Stars get up between 5am and 6am. It gives them an edge over others.

For me its an edge that gets me closer to FI.

Here are 7 other reasons to join the 5am Society.
Bonus Time

Time is everything in the modern world. You get ahead by putting in more time and energy into that time.

Creativity Zone

Most people have worn out their willpower by the end of the day and so getting to the gym is a major struggle.

When you work out at the beginning of the day you cut the risk of you bailing out at the end of the day. Also you get your metabolism kicked into gear which leads to better fat loss

Zero Distractions

At 5am in the morning most people are unlikely to contact you as it is considered culturally inappropriate.

Further to this your family is unlikely awake at this time and so there is less noise around.  This is the best time to do deep focus work

Lone Wolf

When you commit to the 5am Society, you add fuel to your sense of self pride, individualism, significance as you know you are working to get ahead when most others are asleep.

Habit Construction

Setting good habits is difficult.

But putting in the effort to start a habit of joining the 5am society and creating content when nobody else is around will pay dividends in time.

Mo Money

The morning is where you shift from employee to entrepreneur.  It is where you shift from trading time for money to delivering value through asset creation.

This is how you create a side income which eventually you might even be able to use to replace your work income

Fitness & Health Consistency

Most people have worn out their willpower by the end of the day and so getting to the gym is a major struggle.

When you work out at the beginning of the day you cut the risk of you bailing out at the end of the day. Also you get your metabolism kicked into gear which leads to better fat loss

And how do you do it?

If you are anything like me you’ve probably tried a number of times and slept through your alarm, over and over again.

There are two methods that have worked for me at different times.

Option 1: Suffer ONE Bad Night

  • Go to bed at normal time and then wake up at 6am.
  • Next night go to bed at 9pm when you are tired.
  • Then get up at 6am again the next day and the next day.
  • It might take a couple of days but quickly your body re-adjusts.

Option 2: Suffer Little by Little

  • Go to bed 10 minutes earlier and wake up 10 minutes earlier.
  • Do this for a couple of days.
  • Then do another 10 minutes and repeat for a couple of days.
  • Keep doing this until you are down to 6am.

Recommendation

However, I recommend going all out and trying Option 1.  In my experience it was easier.

It’s like ripping off a band-aid, it’s easier to rip it off in one quick move than it is to drag the process out slowly.
